 “Uncle’s Bones Soup”

1 lg chuck roast/w bone
3 qts. Water                                         ¼ cup barley
1 lg. can whole tomatoes                    3 lg. turnips
1 cup celery                                         salt & pepper to taste
1 cup onions                                        some parsley – not to much
1 cup peppers
2 tbls. Of beef bullion granules
1 cup carrots
1 cup fresh green beans
4 lg. potatoes


Trim up bone, place trimmings and bone into large pot.
Cut up celery, onions, peppers, carrots, potatoes, turnips and place
in pot. Add water, tomatoes, and green beans with bullion, barley, salt & pepper and parsley. Cook on low heat all day or about 3 hours, adding water every so often. Discard bone to backyard animals or throw it away before serving.
