“Poppos’ Banana-Nut Bread”
From: houseonbluelawn.com
Prep Time: 15 mins Severing Size: 1 loaf (8 to 10 slices)
Ingredients:
1/3 cup shortening
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 ¾ cups sifted enriched flour
½ cup broken walnuts
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. soda
1 cup mashed ripe banana
Instructions:
Per-heat oven at 350.
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat the hell out of it. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with banana, beating well after each addition. Got that! Now stir in walnuts; do it now, stop what you’re doing and do it now, shhhh! Do I have to tell you everything? Now stop mixing and pour into well-greased 8 ½ x 4 ½ x 2 ½ -inch loaf pan. This is only supposed to take 15 minutes, what’s taking so long. Place in center of oven. I can’t believe I have to tell you that and bake for an hour or ‘til done. Will I have to tell you when it’s done? What’s next, will I have to make it for you too? Remove from pan; cool on rack. Wrap after cooling and enjoy. If you like you can use strawberries, cranberries about ¼ cups instead of nut so folks won’t end up in the Hospital. Unless you don’t mind those kind of trips.
